Moray Firth Caravan Park turns 65
We’re delighted to be celebrating 65 years of happy holidays at Portsoy Links Caravan Park – and the good news is we’ve no plans of retiring!
Our Moray Firth shoreline caravan park was launched in 1956 and has been a choice location for generations of happy campers and caravanners.
While holiday trends have changed – Portsoy’s opening coinciding with the growth in overseas package holidays – our site is still going strong.
Thousands of happy holidaymakers have chosen to spend time by the sea on the Aberdeenshire coast, many returning year after year, bringing their children and grandchildren to enjoy the delights of the area.
Site manager Ian Tillett believes the uninterrupted coastline views – and having beach right on the doorstep – give the site an enduring appeal.
“We’ve got great walks, the beach and sea, two harbours and Portsoy Salmon Bothy all within a short walk of the site.
“We’re a short drive from attractions like Macduff Aquarium, Duff House Royal, the Castle Trail further along the coast is Fraserburgh Lighthouse Museum/ and Peterhead Prison Museum
“In the other direction, we have the wonderful Sandend Beach with paddle boarding and surfing; the pretty town of Cullen and Spey Bay and its dolphin centre
“Head inland and it’s easy to get to the Keith and Dufftown Railway, the most northerly heritage rail route in the UK.
“So there’s no shortage of things to do, if you can drag yourself away from our site and the incredible and ever-changing views it offers.”
David Urquhart, chairman of Portsoy Community Enterprise, which is responsible for the site, added his own comments.
“You don’t get much closer to the sea than at Portsoy Links so it’s little wonder that people come back time and time again to our camp and caravan site.
“The site gets consistently gets high marks for its friendly staff, and its spotless facilities, and the team do a great job looking after the park.
“We will be planning future investment in the site carefully for the years to come to ensure we meet the changing needs of visitors, and to deliver the best holiday experience we possibly can.
“To all the visitors who stay with us, we say a big thank you for choosing Portsoy and we hope you’ll choose to come back and stay with us again.”
